8 The trust model leads
Not safer because Mobieus protects the transaction. Safer because of who is on either side of the listing, and because the community owner — you — runs the rules.
Every listing surfaces the seller's full member context: how long they've been in the community, how many posts, how many past listings, what categories they sell in, the community's rating. A new account looks new. A long-running member looks like one.
Tenant admins decide what verification a seller must complete before listing: verified email, verified phone, ID check, minimum account age, minimum forum-post count. The verification badges show next to every listing.
You moderate listings. You define the category rules. You approve, edit, hide, or remove. You ban repeat offenders from listing or from the whole community. The power is yours, not a faceless support team's.
On Creator Plus and up you can charge per listing or a featured fee — or charge nothing. Listing fees settle through your Stripe at a 0% Mobieus platform fee. You can change the model any time from /admin. On Pro, mobieusMarket runs without owner listing fees.
When a member buys from another member, the payment happens directly between the two parties — outside Mobieus and outside the tenant. Mobieus does not process the sale, hold funds, guarantee, insure, or escrow the transaction. The members arrange payment and delivery on their own.
Buyers DM sellers, ask questions in the listing thread, or open a discussion in the relevant forum. Disputes go public; repeat scammers get exposed; the community self-corrects faster than a corporate support queue ever does.
What's in the product
Up to ten images per listing, threaded Q&A under each listing, watchlists for interested buyers, condition + provenance fields.
Tenant admins create and order categories. Each category can have its own rules, listing fees, required verifications, and moderators.
Full-text search across listings. Filter by category, price, seller reputation, location, verification level.
Auto-derived badges by member age, post count, trade count, dispute count. Owner can add custom badges for events, sponsorships, or community awards.
Email, phone, ID. Owner decides which are required to list, to bid, or to message about a listing.
Flat per-listing, featured-listing premium, free in some categories and paid in others. Set in /admin. Available on Creator Plus and up; on Pro mobieusMarket runs without owner listing fees.
Approval queue, AutoMod rules per category, reports, ban appeals, the same mod-log used for forum moderation. See moderation in mobieusCore.

When marketplace fits
Collectors, hobbyists, makers, restoration enthusiasts, kit traders, parts circulators. Communities where authenticity and trust outweigh the lowest price.
Independent makers selling work to a community that already knows them. Photographers selling prints, knife makers selling commissions, leatherworkers selling small runs.
A paid community where members also sell tools, courses, services, or downloadable resources to each other.
If your model needs anonymous strangers buying from anonymous strangers at scale (think: a general consumer marketplace), Mobieus is not it. You need eBay or a regulated marketplace platform.
If your category needs escrow, guaranteed shipping, or buyer-protection guarantees (think: high-value art, regulated goods, or anything where a fraud guarantee is part of the value), Mobieus is not it. We do not run an escrow service.
If you are building a standalone marketplace product (not a community with a marketplace inside it), Sharetribe / Mirakl / a build-your-own is closer to what you want.
Where it sits in the tiers
mobieusMarket is included. Up to 1,000 members. Listings, reputation, verified identity, and owner moderation. No owner-charged listing fees at this tier.
Everything in Pro plus owner-charged listing fees (per-listing, featured, or seller subscription), paid private sub-communities, course sales with 0% Mobieus fee, and the AI Community Manager. Listing fees settle through the tenant's own Stripe at 0% Mobieus platform fee.
Dedicated server, SSO, audit logs, named support. mobieusMarket runs on private infrastructure.
What we are not
The marketplace section of the site is the easiest place to over-promise. We don't. The list below is what we are deliberately not.
Mobieus does not process or hold funds. Member-to-member sales happen entirely between the two parties — Mobieus and the tenant are not in the path. We are not a money transmitter.
We do not hold buyer funds pending seller delivery. We do not arbitrate disputes for refunds. Disputes between members are resolved between members, with the owner's moderation as backstop.
We do not guarantee any transaction. If a listing turns out to be fake or the seller disappears with the money, Mobieus does not refund the buyer. What we provide is the structure — reputation, verification, moderation — that makes those situations rarer in the first place.
Mobieus does not insure transactions or listings. We are software for a community that runs a marketplace, not a financial product.
