Most platforms give you one way to earn. Mobieus ships six.
The standard community platform model: charge members a subscription, take a percentage of it. That works until it doesn’t — when you want to run a marketplace, sell courses, reward your most loyal members, or let other creators build on your platform.
Every monetization method below is built into Mobieus and works on your Stripe account. Mobieus does not take a platform fee on the revenue you generate through courses, gated content, or marketplace transactions.
A. Sell courses with mobieusLearn
mobieusLearn is a complete learning management system built directly into your community tenant. Your members sign in once and move between forums, courses, helpdesk, and knowledge base from the same account. No second login, no separate platform, no extra payment layer.
The LMS supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, CMI5, and LTI 1.3 Advantage. That matters in practice: if you have existing packaged course content from another LMS, it works here. If you want to connect an external simulation, assessment engine, or specialist content library, LTI lets you plug it in without leaving the platform. SCIM 2.0 handles learner provisioning at scale if you need it.
Course revenue settles directly to your Stripe account. You set the price per course. You choose whether courses are included in a membership tier or sold separately. If you offer paid forum access through mobieusGate (next section), you can bundle a course with that subscription.
The learning tools go beyond basic video uploads. Quizzes with adaptive question banks, rubric-graded assignments, completion certificates as PDFs, cohort enrollment for timed delivery, and automatic prerequisite chains are all included. The mobieusLearn deep dive covers the full feature set.
B. Gate content behind a subscription with mobieusGate
mobieusGate puts a paywall on specific forums — or your entire community. Members who subscribe get access. Members who don’t see a landing page explaining what they’re missing.
The landing page is not a thin placeholder. It shows recent activity previews, top contributors, community rules, and a subscribe button that goes straight to Stripe Checkout on your account. The entire flow happens inside your community. There is no redirect to a third-party subscription platform.
You can run multiple gated forums at different price points. A $5/month Q&A forum for general subscribers alongside a $150/month mastermind for your inner circle. Each forum has its own subscription. Members who subscribe to the mastermind are not automatically subscribed to the Q&A forum unless you configure it that way.
100% of subscription revenue goes to your Stripe account. Zero platform fee from Mobieus. The full mechanics, including the state-aware landing page and access gating, are documented in the paid access forums post.
C. Let dedicated members offset your costs with Server Boosts
Server Boosts work differently from the other five streams. They are not direct revenue — they are a way to reduce your operating costs with support from your most loyal members.
Members choose from three monthly boost tiers: $1, $5, or $10 per month. Each boost is a Stripe subscription. 80% of every boost becomes a bill credit on your next Mobieus invoice. The remaining 20% covers Mobieus infrastructure costs. That is the only place Mobieus takes a cut of member payments, and the split is fixed and visible in your admin dashboard.
Twenty members boosting at $5/month generates $80/month in bill credits. Depending on your plan, that covers a real slice of your monthly cost.
Boosters also unlock perks for themselves and the community: vanity badges, cosmetic chat styles, higher upload limits, and booster-only forum areas you configure. Community-wide perks unlock at 5, 15, and 30 active boosts. The full perks list and level breakdown are in the Server Boosts post.
D. Earn listing fees with mobieusMarket
mobieusMarket is an integrated peer-to-peer marketplace. Members list items for sale, other members buy them, and your community earns a fee on the volume that flows through it.
You set the listing fee model: flat per listing, or a sliding scale based on the listing price. Sellers post their items, buyers pay, and the fee goes to you as the community operator.
Because the marketplace is integrated, sellers and buyers know each other from the forums. That context reduces fraud and dispute volume compared to anonymous marketplace platforms. You can require sellers to hold mobieusVerified status — government ID plus selfie — if your category warrants it.
Categories, search, listing moderation, and fee configuration are all in your admin panel at /admin/market. The marketplace is available on all plans.
E. Open your LMS to other course creators and take a cut
If you run mobieusLearn, you do not have to be the only instructor. You can open your LMS to other creators, charge them an access fee to sell courses on your platform, and earn a percentage of every course they sell.
You become the platform. Other instructors bring their audience and content, sell through your community, and pay you for the privilege. Your community members get a broader course catalog. Your revenue grows with each instructor you bring on without you writing more curriculum.
This model works best when your community already has an established, specific audience. A woodworking community with 5,000 active members is a distribution channel that skilled instructors would pay to access. A fitness community with a loyal following can charge premium access fees and earn rev share from every nutrition, programming, and recovery course sold through it.
Instructor access and rev share settings are configured per-instructor from the LMS admin panel.
F. Earn rev share from mobieusCredits
mobieusCredits are the built-in community currency. Members earn credits by participating: posting, getting upvoted, filing helpful reports, completing their first post of the day. They spend credits on cosmetics, thread bumps, sponsored thread slots, tips to other members, and username changes.
The sponsored thread mechanic is worth a closer look. A member who wants a thread seen — a product announcement, a question that needs fast answers, an event notice — pays credits to pin it to the top of a forum for a set number of hours. The platform decides nothing; the member decides everything. It keeps high-signal content visible without mod intervention.
When members want more credits than they have earned, they top up via Stripe. Three packs are available: 1,000 credits for $1, 6,000 for $5, and 13,000 for $10. Each top-up uses an 80/20 split: 80% becomes a bill credit toward your platform fees, and 20% covers Mobieus infrastructure costs. Credits do not expire and do not transfer between communities.
The full top-up mechanic and spending surfaces are documented in the mobieusCredits launch post.
Three questions operators ask
Do I have to use all six? No. Every feature is independently toggleable. You can run a paid course site with no marketplace. You can take Server Boosts without any gated content. Turn on what fits your community’s culture.
Is there a platform fee on any of these? Server Boosts and credit top-ups use an 80/20 split: 80% becomes a bill credit toward your future platform fees, and 20% covers Mobieus infrastructure costs. Course sales, gated forum subscriptions, and marketplace listing fees carry zero platform fee from Mobieus. You keep the revenue after Stripe’s standard 2.9% + 30¢ processing fee on each transaction.
Which plans include these features? The pricing page has the full breakdown. Paid course sales through mobieusLearn require Creator Plus. Paid forum access, mobieusMarket, Server Boosts, and mobieusCredits are available on all plans.
